25 YOUTH WEEK Youth week is the first week in May of each year! What did you do for youth week? Let us know and you may be featured in our upcoming year book! Email magazine@youthcentrescanada.com. HERE'S WHAT SOME COMMUNITIES DID FOR YOUTH WEEK: ORILLIA YOUTH WEEK The week started off with a flag raising on April 30th at the Orillia Opera House! On the evening of May 1st the local library held a youth week kick-off with music, open mic, pizza and games. May 2nd held a writing workshop and rock climbing to end the night. The next night on May 3rd there was a free showing of the movie "Wonder" at the Simcoe Community Services. There was also a creative night where youth could learn about embroidery! On May 4th youth could enjoy a Night at the Museum followed by Nerf Wars at the public library, Jedi vs. Sith #MayThe4thBeWithYou. May 5th there was a dance held at the Geneva Event Centre for ages 11-14. May 6th started off with a pancake breakfast at Brewery Bay, followed by an afternoon trip to Camp Couchiching. The week ended off with a paint night on May 7th and Black Light Theatre displays on May 8th! Orillia really knows how to have fun with their youth. Get inspired by some of the activities they've pulled off! SQUAMISH YOUTH WEEK Squamish Youth Week helped the slogan "Participate, Educate, Celebrate!" The week started off with a photography workshop hosted by the Squamish Arts Council. On May 1st, the Squamish Airhouse held the Big 5 for $5 where they held entry lessons, pizza, movies and more! On May 2nd the Brennan Park Recreation Centre held a free Glow in the Dark Skate with face painting and a photo booth. May 3rd was the 99 Grind Skatepark Jam with competition, food and prizes! The weekend included Teen Aikido Classes, a movie night and the Teen Awards! A weekend packed with fun! Monday there was a Youth Wellness Conference to end off the week. Amazing events can happen when the community comes together!
