36 C omtech Fire Credit Union has been a proud partner of the Canadian Fallen Firefighters Foundation for over six years. Since our first Golf Tournament in support of the CFFF in 2013, we have directly or indirectly supported the Foundation in several ways, including our direct sponsorship support of the memorial weekend, and our indirect involvement of other activities that raise significant funds that support the CFFF's important work. In 2018, our sixth annual golf tournament raised $12,000 for the Foundation, which brings our grand total on the golf tournaments alone to over $82,000. The 2018 tournament was held once again at the Markland Wood Golf Club in Toronto and was supported by 136 participants and over fifty sponsors, including our Gold Level sponsor, the Personal Insurance Group. Other major sponsors included Stedfast, Toronto Professional Fire Fighters Association, Mitsubishi Canada, and Cardtronics. We appreciate each and every sponsor and all participants who helped make the 2018 tournament a success. We are also a proud sponsor of the memorial weekend, where we have an opportunity to see firsthand the important work the Foundation does with the families of the fallen. Networking with the families drives home the significance of our efforts on behalf of the Foundation. It puts everything into perspective. Also during 2018, we partnered with the Toronto Fire Celtic Society as a primary sponsor of their bike ride from Toronto to Ottawa in support of the Foundation. Over thirty cyclists embarked on the journey that ultimately raised over $10,000 for the CFFF. Comtech Fire Credit Union hosted a welcome reception at the halfway point of their journey at our Branch in Kingston, Ontario. We were proud to host a hearty dinner for all the cyclists, who were escorted into the City by Kingston Police and welcomed at our branch by close to twenty Kingston Fire Fighters, who donated $500.00 to the ride. We believe that our support of the Canadian Fallen Firefighters Foundation helps us define who we are as a Credit Union. Over 80 years ago, the Fire Department Employees Credit Union began assisting Fire Fighters with their financial needs. Today, with six state-of-the-art branch locations, Comtech Fire Credit Union still has the same commitment to Ontario Fire Fighters as we did when our twenty-four founding members first opened our Credit Union in 1941. We applaud the great work of the Canadian Fallen Firefighters Foundation and we look forward to supporting their efforts in the future. Comtech Fire Credit Union operates six branches in the GTA, Kingston area and in Ottawa and serves the financial needs of 16,000 members and their families throughout Ontario. The Credit Union has over $530 million in total assets.
