42 2018 was the busiest year to date for CFFF participation in events across Canada with many occurring on the same day. Here is a look at some of the events we attended. CFFF ATTENDS SASKATCHEWAN ASSOCIATION OF FIRE CHIEFS CONFERENCE From April 12 to 15 of this year, CFFF Director Charles Olsen attended the Saskatchewan Association of Fire Chiefs Conference in Regina, SK. The theme of "One Team, One Vision" was reflected throughout the weekend with stories of the heroic efforts of the first responders that were called to duty in response to the Humboldt bus tragedy. The accident took place mere days before the opening ceremonies of the conference and the effects of that day were very present in the minds of all those in attendance. A conference highlight was the keynote address given by retired Fire Chief Darby Allen, who spoke of the Fort McMurray wildfires. The CFFF would like to congratulate Denis Pilon, Fire Chief in Swift Current, on being the recipient of the SAFC annual Fire Chief Award of Merit and wish him all the best on his retirement from the department later this year. Congratulations also go out to Randy Ryba, with Regina Fire and Protective Services, who was presented with the Fire Prevention Award at this year's conference. Director Olsen would like to thank all who took the time out of their busy conference schedule to stop by the booth to help spread the word about the CFFF. Many of the participants stopped by the booth to enquire about the programs offered to the families of the fallen as well as the memorial weekend. CANADIAN FALLEN FIREFIGHTERS CFFF ATTENDS THE 2018 AFCA CONFERENCE CFFF Director Carey Taylor attended the Alberta Fire Chiefs Association trade show at the Edmonton EXPO Centre on May 27 & 28. While traffic was down this year, the awareness of the CFFF and our programs is definitely growing. Seeing firefighters from across the province wearing our clothing from previous years is great to see!! Thanks again to the AFCA for the complimentary booth. We look forward to seeing everyone again next year in Calgary. 2 0 1 8 IN REVIEW CFFF Director Charles Olsen mans the booth at the Saskatchewan Association of Fire Chiefs Conference in Regina, SK.
